Castle Rocks

This site is situated inside a marine sanctuary where fishing or the harvesting of any marine life is prohibited. You're likely to find lots of fish such as Roman, hottentot, butterfish, galjoen, Janbruin and many small bottom sharks. You'll aslo find octopuses and cuttlfish.

Castle Rocks is best dived during winter when it is sheltered from the north-west winds.

Average depth: 10m

Maximum depth: 15m


How to get there:
Castle Rocks is past Miller's Point on the road from Simon's Town to Cape Point.The spot is recognized by the cottages on either side of the road. There is an informal gravel parking area on the landward side of the road. Walk down to the steps leading past the cottages to the lawn on the bottom. The entry point is to the right of the cluster of rocks. You have to clamber across the round boulders in the water behind the sandy patch. The site is 50 - 75m to the south-east.
