Justin's Caves

This is a very exciting dive with large underwater caverns and beautiful swimthroughs for both advanced and open water divers. The surge can be very strong through the caves when a swell is running. You might want to take a torch with to bring out the colours of the corals and anemones on the ceilings and walls of the caverns. There is a lot of hottentot and other small fish and also some small harmless bottom-dwelling sharks.

Crayfish are also quite abundant. We have also seen cuttlefish here, so keep your eyes open. This is a great night dive but the entry and exit points are very tricky. Justin's Caves is usually dived in summer when the water is clear, but cold.

Average depth: 12m

Maximum depth: 18m

How to get there:
Justin's Caves is located on the rocks off Victoria Road, Oudekraal. It lies closer to Camps Bay than the wreck of the Antipolis. Park near the white hotel (you can't miss it). Kit up alongside the road and scramble down a steep incline to the round boulders at the bottom or take the footpath that leads to the entry for Sandy Cove (further right) and then veer left. There are 2 entry points. (both will have you clambering over and around boulders to get into a gulley. It is about a 150m swim to the site which is amonghst the furthest clump of rocksl. The cave is under the tallest round rock. Descend in the channel between the two rocks.
