Pyramid Rock

There is usually a bit of surge running at this site except in extremely flat conditions. This is a pyramid shaped rock which sticks up about 1m above the water. It can be an interesting dive with big submerged rocks and swim-throughs. There are many big reef fish and abundant colourful inverebrate life.

The terrain between the rock and the exit point is covered in kelp that often shelter small octopuses and rays.

Average depth: 8m

Maximum depth: 12m

How to get there:
The site is on the road from Simon's Town to Cape Point, just past Miller's Point. Pyramid Rock is about 75m from the northern edge of Castle Rocks. The spot can be recognised by the cottages on either side of the road. Kit up alongside the road and walk down the steps leading past the cottages to the lawn at the bottom. The entry and exit is over the round boulders to the left of the cluster of rocks. Alternatively, you can walk to the little beach about 70m to the left and enter there for a shorter swim.
