Spaniard Rock

The water at this site is usually clear in winter but a strong surge can develop when a swell runs in the bay. Spaniard rock and the surrounding reefs are covered in brightly coloured sponges and marine growth. The site gets its name from the vivid yellows and reds that you see on this dive.

You will also encounter lots of reef fish such as Roman, hottentot, butterfish and Janbruin.

Average depth: 8m

Maximum depth: 12m

How to get there:
The site is about 6km past Simon's Town on the road towards Cape Point. It is a short, steep climb down to the entry point and then a swim of about 75m to the large rock which can be seen from
the road.
