Whittle Rock

This site is usually fairly clear and only has surge if there is a very big ground swell running. Whittle rock rises to within 3m of the surface and covers a large area. The invertebrate life is very colourful and almost unspoilt as the area is not dived too often. Quite a few divers have seen a great white cruising past.

The rock has many big fish such as yellowtail, stumpnose and Roman and is also a favourite spearfishing venue.

Average depth: Whatever you want

Maximum depth: 35m

How to get there:
Whittle Rock lies right out in False Bay. It is about 9km from Millers Point and is marked by a metal Buoy. Please note that there are a number of great white sharks in the area so divers should not linger on the surface but descend as soon as they hit the water.
