Windmill Beach

This site is almost alway sheltered and the entry and exit points are very easy. There can be a little surge round the point if there is a big swell. This is a favourite training dive since you can enter from the beach on one side of the rocks, swim round the point and exit on the other side of the rocks, on the same beach.

There is plenty of kelp here with red and green seaweed, nudibranchs, sea cucumbers, urchins, dogfish and pyjama sharks. You will also see lots of little fish on this dive.

Average depth: 6m

Max depth: 8m off the point

How to get there:
Windmill Beach is just south of Boulders Beach, below the golf course. Drive out of Simon's Town to the south, then turn left into Bellevue Road. Take the first right into Links Road. Park at the end of the road and walk about 100m to the beach. Make sure you don't park your car on any of the no-parking zones marked with red lines - the traffic cops never miss a chance to fine offenders.
