It is the central access route by air for all international tourism. Airlines from America, the Far East, Europe, Australia, the Gulf States and Northern Africa all gain entry to South Africa via Johannesburg International Airport. Most domestic flights also originate and depart from here. The province also hosts the major cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, which are important gold mining, cultural and political centers, as well as the important industrial regions such as Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark. Gauteng also boasts the largest commercial centers in the country and it is from this region that most tours and Safaris to the rest of the country originate.
