Kranzkloof Nature Reserve
Situated only 4 kilometres from the centre of Kloof, this nature reserve was established by the Natal Parks Board in 1950 and boasts an abundance of wildlife. It affords spectacular views across the well forested gorge cut by the Molweni River. Most of the reserve's 532 hectares is covered by dense forest and vegetation. Its best known attraction is the well developed picnic area adjacent to the dam at the head of Kloof Falls. The Parks board has established an informative 'Interpretative Centre' at the site. This spot is easily reached by following Kloof Falls road. Leaving the picnic site, the visitor may proceed to Bridle Road and enjoy spectacular views from two well marked view sites. Another picnic site developed at the Nkutu Falls may be reached by turning right at the top of Bridle Road into King George Avenue (which becomes Valley Drive) and continues to the bottom of the hill. Prepared walks originate from the picnic areas and visitors may view the falls or descend into the gorge, following the river course. Organised walks can be arranged at weekends.

Route: Valley of 1000 Hills
The Valley of 1000 Hills Route is one of KwaZulu Natal's best kept secrets. The Valley of a 1000 Hills forms around the majestic valley created by the Mngeni River and it's tributaries. Many artists and crafters have been attracted to the beauty and tranquility of this area which is dotted with cozy guest lodges, friendly pubs and tea gardens with sweeping views over the hills and dams. The main attractions on the 1000 Hills Experience are the dramatic landscape and Zulu culture which is well interpreted at three cultural villages. The 1000 Hills Choo Choo offers steam train trips from Kloof station to Cato Ridge on weekends and the more adventurous can view the stunning scenery from the skies. Microlight flips are organised from Cato Ridge Airfield. There are also boat cruises on Shongweni, Nagle and Inanda Dams and visitors can spend a day on a guided fishing trip or escorted 4 wheel drives through the Valley Floor.

Beaches
Durban's beaches are characterised by soft, golden sands, palm trees and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The main beaches are shark netted and patrolled from sunrise to sunset by trained lifeguards who have an impressive track record in beach safety. The main beaches also have change and shower facilities as well as an array of restaurants and bars. Those who crave seclusion can find many remote beaches along the coast which are not patrolled. Durban’s beaches stretch in a long line from Addington Beach to Country Club Beach. Facilities include changing rooms, fast-food outlets, shark nets and lifesavers. The Bay of Plenty is especially popular among surfers. Even in winter, the sea temperature rarely drops below 17º C.
