Two years later he opened “Rossini”. Luigi moved to South Africa and worked in a few well-known restaurants in Johannesburg such as “Villa Borghese and Rugantino”. He opened “Trattoria Luigi” in Braamfontein, which was an institution in Johannesburg.

Trattoria Luigi has been in Hout Bay for 9 years and has now ventured out into Camps Bay, where we are thrilled to have them as our resident restaurant.

Trattoria Luigi serves authentic Italian cuisine, cooked with passion. The décor is simple yet very characteristic and nostalgic.The atmosphere is lively and homely. You will hear the odd “Porco Cane” and pot hitting the wall…. But this is part of the Italian temperament coming through… at least you know it’s the real thing.
