Addo Elephant National Park is a well-appointed park that provides sanctuary to more than 400 elephants. Lion have been translocated from Kgaligadi Transfrontier Park and introduced into Addo for the first time since 1879, completing the 'Big Five' at the park.
We depart Cape Town early on day 1 and travel via the scenic Garden Route, passing through picturesque towns such as Wilderness, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay en route to Port Elizabeth. From there it’s a relatively short distance to Addo. Besides the opportunity to view the world’s largest land mammal close up, other exciting and varied wildlife to be seen includes:Buffalo, black rhino, lion, leopard, kudu, eland, grey duiker, Cape grysbok, red hartebeest, bush pig, ant eater, caracal, black-backed jackal, mongoose, genet cat, black-footed cat, polecat and vervet monkeys. The release of spotted hyena into the park is also imminent. Addo is also home to a rich variety of bird life, with more than 150 species of raptors and other birds to be found.
