If you follow the Beach Road through Gordon's Bay past the harbour, you get on to one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. The R44 towards Kleinmond and Hermanus winds along a breathtakingly steep coastline.Whales can often be watched here during the season. The view from the Steenbras River bridge is particularly dramatic and good hikes along the river up to the rockpools can be found here.
Kogelbaai begins behind the mouth of the Steenbras river. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Cape where surfing is very good. There is also a picnic spot shaded by trees and a camping resort.
